In the North (Belgium), we solicit knowledge exchange, resources and cooperation with partners from various organisations, committed to development projects in the South.

Beeacholi Projects in the South aims at projects to alleviate household poverty in rural areas by initiating or supporting income generation activities for the local population.

Beeacholi is currently engaged in initiating and supporting beekeeping activities in Kitgum District with an enormous potential for bee-keeping. The District has large forestlands with different tree species such as sheanut, acacia and many others provide an excellent forage habitat for the bees. Most of the bee-keepers in Kitgum are still traditional and lack resources to acquire better equipment. Buying the equipment necessary for maximum production of honey is not easy. Poor processing and low quality honey has affected markets because they lack the required knowledge in honey harvesting and do not have better materials such as protective gear. Beeacholi strives to help the beekeepers overcome these challenges.

Beeacholi has established an innovative model of micro-credit enterprise for beekeepers. Working in collaboration with Kitlam Beekeepers Cooperative Soceity whose goal  is to bring together all beekeepers of the Kitgum and Lamwo districts, protect beekeepers from external exploitation, provide ready markets for honey, share information, experiences and provide other resources on beekeeping. And promote social and economic development.  In this project, excess income obtained from the sales of the products (honey, wax, pollen, etc) can be reinvested by the community, providing them with access to affordable sustainable micro-credit loans to buy what they deem to be most needed and then pay back into the community microcredit fund pool.

Beeacholi also have projects designed to contribute to the basic support for the local population. These are included among others: Supporting basic education in Kitgum District. Support sensitization projects (eg HIV / AIDS).

Bee Acholi aims to promotes sustainable development by supporting environmental conservation and management related projects e.g support towards community tree planting project. This wil go along way in helping the community to fight climate change injustice and mitigate and adapt to impact of climate change. Other further programs shall include Support of clean drinking water and sanitation programs.
