Who we are

Beeacholi VZW is a Belgian registered voluntary charity organization that strives to strengthen the potentials of the poor rural communities in the South particularly in Kitgum District in North Uganda. And empower them by supporting economic activities, entrepreneurship and socioeconomic developments. BEEACHOLI has a double meaning. BEE is for initial project in beekeeping and ACHOLI is the name of the ethnic group mainly benefiting from our support. In 2009 team members of BEEACHOLI made a trip to Kitgum Uganda and were amazed by development projects in beekeeping.

Goal

Bee acholi VZW aims to eradicate household poverty among the rural poor communities in the South by initiating and supporting local community development initiatives, social-economic activities and environmentaal conservation programs. In the first place we want to support durable projects that can be organized locally and generate a direct income for the participants. The projects will allow participants to be a part of the local economy. This will results in improvement of the livelihoods of the rural poor in the long term. Additionally, these projects should be able to enhance the sharing of knowledge, information, entrepreneurship skill and cooperation in the region.

Mission

Beeacholi strives to increase the potentials of economic activities( such as beekeeping), environmental conservation activities(such as tree planting as one of the strategies for the community to mitigate and adapt to impact of climate change ) and other socioeconomic development in Kitgum District. Bee acholi also wants to promote exchange of knowledge, experiences and cooperation between rural communities and entrepreneurs and their associations in the south, and those in the North.

Vision

Beeacholi believes that empowering the rural poor and providing them with the opportunity to be economic actors is the only way that can improves their livelihoods and prosperity.

Beeacholi vzw therefore strives to promote economic integration of vulnerable rural communities through strengthening their economic and social activities.
